- Investing in CPS security
The results of a recent survey by the SANS Institute show that 81 percent of industrial companies spend less than half of their Cybersicherheitsbudgets spend on protecting operational technology. Although 55 percent of companies have increased their OT security budgets, only 23 percent have increased them “significantly”. At the same time, networking in critical infrastructures is increasing significantly – and with it cyber risks.
- Fast recovery is the key to availability
Resilient CPS are characterized by three abilities: They can withstand attacks. They can adapt to disruptions caused by cyberattacks to maintain critical functions even at reduced capacity. They are also able to recover quickly from an incident.
Gartner analysts have found that 90 percent of affected companies will need hours or days to get their systems back up and running. In manufacturing, one hour of unplanned downtime due to attacks on OT or CPS costs $5.6 million!
